Review: Cannon by Sabrina Paige

If you did and liked them, then Sabrina Paige is going to blow you right out of the water with her newest novel Cannon. Sabrina Paige has said that this book is not exactly like her first two books in this series, and she is right. Prick and Tool both made me feel good, made me laugh and entertained me – but this book took it to a completely new level.

Addy and Hendrix jumped off the pages and became three and four-dimensional – they were so real that I half expected to run into them on the street. What they find with each other is true love…and just as in the real world that love is tested.

Hendrix is battling the demons that followed him out of the Marine Corps. He has seen the worst life has to offer and finds himself caught in the darkness more often than anyone would like. Addy finds herself in a world of glamour but she is just not happy.

When their worlds once again collide old feelings of hate and attraction rises, and these two emotions battles it out for victory. In the end, hate does not stand a chance.

The story in itself is not new, however, Sabrina Paige makes it unique with the almost touchable emotions that drips off the pages. I for one am looking forward to what this talented writer delivers next time out.

Review: A Kiss like This by Sara Ney

This is the third book in the Kiss and Make Up series and it gives us a good look into the awkwardness that is Abby. We have briefly met her in the previous books where she in my opinion came off as a bit aloof...but in this book we find out that she is just really shy and socially awkward.

And then she meets Caleb...basically it's a bit like "Hey pot, meet kettle", as these two are so alike. Caleb barely speaks and when he does, it's with a tendency to put his foot in his mouth! He's so adorable insecure and confident at the same time and I pretty much just wanted to hug him and pinch his cheek one minute and then jump him the next.

A Kiss like This is a feel-good love story and I for one love those. It's impossible not to fall in love with this awkward pai as they figure out how to be a couple. If you're in the mood for smiling, laughing and feeling light, then this is the book you need to one-click.

I give this book 4 stars.

"Don't say that." I scramble to get my towel wrapped around my body. How the hell am I supposed to think clearly with Hendrix standing in front of me, water glistening on his bare chest?

"Hendrix," I whisper. "You can't talk to me like that." 

"Or what?" His mouth is close to my ear, and he trails one finger up my arm and traces the outline of my shoulder before he slowly runs it up the side of my neck. I'm so on edge, so wanting, that I think I might cry. "What are you afraid of, Addy?" 

"You," I whisper. It's the only word I can choke out. I don't say all of the other things going through my head, the things I want to say. 

I'm afraid that everything I've worked for will be destroyed. 

I'm afraid of falling for you all over again. 

I'm afraid you'll rip my heart to shreds, the way you did when you left. 

I'm afraid you'll break me. 

But that word, "you," is enough for Hendrix. The look he gives me is practically feral. He makes a sound, deep in his throat, and I think if he kisses me again, he'll destroy us both. I want him to kiss me again. But instead, he pauses, his hand on the back of my neck. 

"Drop the towel."

"What?" All I can feel is the warmth from his hand, radiating heat from his palm through my body and pooling between my legs. I'm a raw nerve, a bundle of need and desire, and as much as I want him to go, more of me wants him to stay. All of me wants him to pick me up and fuck me against the wall, right now. 

Hendrix groans, as if he can read the dirty thoughts that are running through my head. "Drop the towel," he repeats, his voice gruff and gravely. 

"What are you doing?" I choke out the words, my palm on his chest to push him away, but instead I end up sliding my hand over his chest and down his rippled abdomen. His hardness presses against his jeans, and all I can think about is how he would feel inside me. 

"Are we both going to pretend you're not aching for me?" he asks. "That you're not soaking wet with the thought of having me inside you?" He reaches underneath the towel, between my legs, and touches me gently with the tip of his fingers. His touch nearly makes me melt. 

"I'm not sure this is a good idea, Hendrix," I say, protesting, but weakly. My resolve isn't just weak. It's non-existent. He pins my wrists to the wall above my head, holding them there firmly with one hand while he traces my lips gently with one finger. 

"This is definitely not a good idea, Addy," he whispers, his finger moving slowly down the front of my chest to my cleavage. "This is the worst fucking idea in the world." 

"We should be reasonable," I say.

"I've never been a reasonable man," he says, stepping back and surveying me. "Now, take off the damn towel."

Risking It All by Tessa Bailey

I absolutely hated it...hated that it had to end. The story and the characters...those I loved to the moon and back. This book caught my attention from the opening line and kept it right through til the last word.Tessa Bailey cleverly portraits the fact, that every person has something good and bad in them - it makes both Bowen and Sera believable and real as they come alive on every single page.

Bowen is raw and rough to very core of his being. His anguish and pain drip of the pages as he desperately tries to cling to the last shredded pieces of his soul - he never had a choice in what kind of man he was to become.

Seraphina is pure - raised with an all-girls school run by nuns, going to church and still a virgin. She is the white to Bowen's black. When their worlds collide passion, lust and mixed feelings explode all over the place. Black and white runs together creating those grey zones that can be dangerous and tricky to negotiate.

If you like it steamy...if you like it hot...if you like it kept real...then Risking I All is for you. Don't wait to pick it up. Me...I can't wait for the next book in the Crossing The Line series...Up In Smoke should be out in June 2015.

Risking It All gets 5 stars from me.

In the beginning...

In the beginning there was a Danish girl...well, I guess you could call her a woman since she was in her mid thirties...and make that closer to forty than thirty.

From a very young age this woman loved to read...all kinds of books but mostly feel - good romance, crime and classics. Anything centered around horses or ice hockey was particularly popular.
